HISTORY

Benchmark Surveys was formed in May 1995 by Antony Moxey and Helen Richards, following the closure of the survey department of a major UK based aggregates company. The two partners at Benchmark Surveys were the most experienced and senior land surveyors at the company and surveys were almost exclusively carried out in quarries and landfill sites. Although based in Exeter, the whole of the UK was covered.

Since formation in 1995, Benchmark Surveys has doubled in both size and turnover, and has undertaken surveys throughout the UK including the Channel Islands. Surveys are no longer restricted to quarrying and landfill sites, and now include measured building surveys, setting out and greenfield topographic surveys, as well construction site earthmoving volumes and profiling.

We are a company that is committed to providing both a professional and personal service from commission to completion. All of our staff are either fully qualified or working towards qualification via industry recognised college and university courses. We are a member of the UK Survey Association.

Helen began surveying as a trainee at ECC Quarries in 1982. She attended courses at Taunton and Bristol to gain qualifications in Land Surveying in 1986, and also has qualifications in AutoCAD. Following the departure of the Chief Surveyor at ECC Quarries in 1988, Helen was promoted to that role, and continued to run the survey department until the formation of Benchmark Surveys in 1995.

Antony also started as a trainee at ECC Quarries in 1985. He gained qualifications in Land Surveying in 1989 following successful courses in Taunton and East London. Antony also has AutoCAD qualifications. Following Helen's promotion to Chief Surveyor at ECC, Antony became deputy to Helen at ECC and continued in that role until the formation of Benchmark Surveys.
